PDD

Greetings fellow Battlefleet Gothic players,

Last two months the Battlefleet Gothic Section at Warseer, as well as three other forums, have seen a couple of teasers regarding a new fanmade supplement for the game.
Just recently the finished supplement, Project Distant Darkness has gone online!

This pdf contains a new Tau fleet based on the Forgeworld models. The rules are used in addition to the existing rules by Forgeworld. But the Project is more then only rules, it creates a whole new setting within the Tau Empire for you to explore.

Best regards,
Horizon

AoW

I am very very excited to announce that preceding the imminent release of Arena Deathmatch, the electronic version of the rulebook is now available as a free PDF download.

It has been a very big project, and I am especially glad it finally sees the light. The rulebook not only has the rules for the game, but also extensive info regarding the Avatars of War world setting, a painting guide by Mike McVey, lots of artwork by artists like Mark Gibbons and Des Hanley among others... and much more!

I invite you to take a look and I hope you find it's been worth the long working hours behind the game and the book!
The PDF is posted in the Arena Deathmatch section of our website.

You may have noticed an ad or two popping up from www.waylandgames.co.uk over the last few weeks. Wayland Games is a new online wargames store and they need your help, they need banners and have decided to start the Wayland Games banner competition for Warseer members:

Start date: Sunday 12th October
End date: Sunday 16th October

Once the end date is reached there'll be a 7 day poll to decide about the winning entries. The contest is to design a banner for www.waylandgames.co.uk to use as web advertising. The brief is to create a banner (468x60) to be clean clear, interesting and relevant to selling GW products.

There are 3 prizes being offered:
  • 1st Prize for the banner judged to be the best will be £150 voucher for use on Wayland Games.
  • 2nd Prize for the banner judged to be the 2nd best will be £100 voucher for use on Wayland Games.
  • 3rd Prize for the banner judged to be the 3rd best will be £50 voucher for use on Wayland Games.

The contest will begin with entries being posted on this thread on Warseer. Then 30 days later, the best 12 as judged by both Warseer staff and Wayland Games will be entered into a poll. The top 3 entries after 7 days will be the winners.

The entrants grant the rights for their winning banners to be used as and when Wayland Games require and the judges decisions are final.

Good Luck!

WoH2 Welcome my brethren, my fellow Sons of Darkness (and in some cases Daughters), to the second issue of the Word of Hashut. May all the feeble slave races fear our presence and tremble at our dreaded approach.
It is I, dread overlord Willmark, (Sometimes known as the Dark Lord of the Sith on the forums). I return to bring tidings of our second issue of the Word of Hashut, the quarterly webzine of CDO.

Hopefully you’ll take the time and apply a critical eye to the improvements that we have made to the webzine. How did we do? Did we exceed the previous issue? Feedback received will be answered in the Slave Pen. So send constructive criticism as to how we can make the next issue even better (Slated for late December 2008).

After all, this is a magazine for our community, but even the first issue got noticed in the wider context of the Warhammer world, so let’s keep raising the bar as well as our stature in the game and its various communities. I’m not going to be satisfied until our webzine is better than every other one, bar none, as there are some excellent fan produced fanzines out there. We are dwarfs after all; surrender or defeat is not in our creed. Each step along the way should be bringing us further to our ultimate goal: that of a new Chaos Dwarf Army Book.

You can download issue 2 here [pdf, 23mb] (or click the cover picture on the left)!

WarpRift20Ship Ahoy Admirals, Warmasters, Dragon Princes, Warlords, Hive Minds and other commandeers of the Stellar fleets!

Another issue of Warp Rift arrives, this being issue twenty. This issue sees the return of the Tyranid War suppliment, the ongoing fiction epic. In addition, we are joined by a two new members of the team. Davide has been put in charge of battle reports for the magazine. Battle reports are one of the most popular sections of any magazine, and most people enjoy reading a good report. However, they are also one of the sections which takes the longest to put together, so I am sure that Davide, dedicated to the cause, will be put to great use. Please make him welcome, and next time you play a game, take some notes and write it up to send in, to show the entire community just how great - or lucky - you are as a commander!

Jack Watling dedicated himself to photoshop the great painted ships into a space surrounding. He will do this on steady basis for Warp Rift.

Also this issue we have an article on running multi-player games of Battlefleet Gothic, because battles are not always organised to be one-on-one, a new disengage order, a Chaos showcase, as well as the finalists from the almost over 2008 Battlefleet Gothic Painting Competition, part two of the High Anchor fiction arc, not one but two scenarios, with the Tau taking on Hive Fleet, and a very creative method of making three dimensional blast markers. Enjoy this latest edition, and please do keep sending material in.

You can download issue 20 from the usual location here (or click the cover picture on the left)!

Best regards,
Horizon

This years Battlefleet Gothic Painting Competition (GothiComp08) has now closed for submissions. In the meantime, and because we all like space ship eye candy, I have compiled the entries into a series of galleries. This year there has been an incredible response, with a total of 93 entries.

These are available for viewing here.

Thanks to everyone who entered this years competition and made the voting so difficult, and also to all those who supported it through donating prizes or their time.

Voting on Round One has started and will end August 29th.

Remember: you vote for painting, the judges will go through the conversions.

Everyone thanks for all the great submissions!
